About McDonald Contracting

McDonald Contracting is a second generation Australian owned family business, employing up to 10 employees.

McDonald Contracting was originally known as CMR House Movers and was established in 1969.  More recently the business was known as Robert McDonald and Sons.

In 2000 Shane and Mat McDonald moved forward with the business however, Rob is still heavily involved in our business, by doing so we bring together years of expertise and modern day technology.  Shane and Chantel McDonald now operate the business in which all family members are still involved.  Shane and Chantel pride themselves and their crew on the presentation of our fleet of trucks and trailers and our staff, who are by far the best crew that anyone could ask for.  We are a team and we all work together through all projects.

In 2011 McDonald Contracting entered our fleet into the Museum of Fire Working Truck Show and we were awarded with the “Best Display” trophy.  Something that all of the McDonald Contracting staff and family can be proud of.

We have a fleet of two new Prime Movers, TRT 5 Axle All Steer Hydraulic Trailer, TRT Extendable Low Boy Trailer, TRT Extendable Tri Axle Drop Deck, Case 320 Track Loader, Various Case Excavators from 2T to 14.5T, New Hino and Iveco Tool Trucks, TRT Hydraulic Jack Plant Systems with 45 jacks, Tri Axle Chassis Tipper Demo Trailer, TRT Converter Dolly, TRT Tag Axle Dolly.  Lots of gear to get the job done.

The work that McDonald Contracting takes on varies from moving standard houses, control rooms, historic buildings, transportable buildings, display home offices, new pier work and elevations. We have even moved a 100 year old Ficus Tree in the Elephant enclosure in Taronga Zoo when it underwent a makeover.

McDonald Contracting have over time bettered our equipment to enable our company to be contracted to transport large government buildings including modular type buildings as well as Control Rooms that are transported to energy suppliers. Due to our advanced equipment at some sites we are able to unload the Control Rooms directly onto the customer’s gantry, eliminating the need for crane hire and speeding up the unload process.

We load and transport transportable buildings for such companies as Anchor Homes, Prominda Homes and many more.

We are often engaged by the Australian Armed Forces for various types of work, from moving Army Barracks, train carriages for terror training in various Army Bases, most recently we have been engaged to elevate and complete new pier work under historic military buildings still used on site. During the years we have moved decommissioned Hercules Aircraft and Caribou from various bases to their new training sites, we have also moved Military portable bridges within Army bases. This type of work is always new and exciting for our team and also very advantageous for McDonald Contracting to work with such large companies who run these projects.

In 2011 and 2012 McDonald Contracting was awarded the relocation of numerous historic buildings at Villawood Detention Centre through the contract of Hansen Yunken, so in recent times our company has been accepted into the Commonwealth of Australia projects which was hard work but rewarding to say the least.

What our clients say about us

"Early this morning we witnessed the tow halves of the house being driven off our place for the very last time. It was sad to see the house go, and we wish it well for its future. My wife had tears as we watched the processions, as we had many good years in that house; and tha is all my daughter has ever known. It is truly amazing to see what your gusy do to get these things up and on the road, bypassing all the obstacles, that are in the way."

"I sincerely thank you for your very prompt replies and answers to my questions. You have given us great customer service."

As a testimonial, I would like to say your organisation was most professional to deal with. McDonald Contracting know the business of house moving - very efficient and very hard working team! We like the "old fashioned" service they had to offer. The site was left clean as they did all the demo work too. We had a vacant block of land left and we were able to have our building come straight in to work. We would definately recommend them to anyone!"
