Transporting multiple large modules in a single operation presents a layered set of logistical demands. Each stage – loading, transit, and delivery – carries its own risks, and any dependency on external contractors introduces variables outside your control.
For this project, the key constraints were:
- Moving five modules as a coordinated delivery, not piecemeal
- Loading and unloading without crane dependency during transport – keeping the operation self-contained
- Delivering modules to site
- Maintaining timeline certainty for the client across all five moves
Standard transport operators often require crane assistance at both ends of a module move. That introduces scheduling dependencies, additional cost, and the risk of delays when crane availability doesn’t align with transport windows.
McDonald Contracting’s approach was straightforward: keep it in-house, keep it controlled.
Using our PINK jacks — the same equipment that carries a nod to the team’s support for Pink Finss — the crew managed both ends of the transport without requiring external crane hire during the move. Each module was loaded at origin, transported to the new site, and positioned using the same process in reverse. Smooth, efficient, and right on target.
This approach delivered several practical advantages for the client:
- No reliance on third-party crane operators during the transport phase
- Tighter scheduling control — the team set their own timeline and met it
- Reduced cost exposure from external contractor dependencies
Modules delivered
All five modules were moved as part of a single coordinated operation. The result was an on-time delivery with no site disruptions and no surprises.
All five modules reached the new site on schedule. Loading and unloading were completed entirely in-house using McDonald Contracting’s PINK jacks, removing the need for crane involvement at either end of the road transport phase.
The modules are now positioned on site, ready for final crane placement once equipment is available — exactly where the client needs them, exactly when they needed them there.
For Tourabec Farm, the result was simple: a complex, multi-module logistics problem solved cleanly, by a team that didn’t need to outsource the hard parts. Five modules down. Another job ticked off.
“Unbelievable job today – thank you very much to the entire team – magnificent!!”
