The Process

The Process

Our Process to Relocating a House

  • Inspection of the house.
  • Is the house structurally adequate to relocate.
  • Route and site inspection to make sure that this house can be relocated to the destination you have requested.
  • RMS and NSW Police pre approval to make sure we can get your new house to site.
  • Organise and prepare on your behalf if necessary your plans, site plan and engineering ready for your council submission.
  • Framing, preparation and cutting of the house if so required.
  • Elevation o f the house by hydraulic jacking systems and then loaded onto our purpose built hydraulic house moving trailers.
  • RMS inspection of our load to make sure we comply with the RMS regulations before travelling
  • NSW Police to be advised that everything will proceed.
  • Relocation of your new house will proceed……..
  • Arrival to your house’s new location.
  • Construction of your footings if so required.
  • Council inspection of newly constructed pier holes.
  • Unloading and structural rejoin of the house.
  • Installation of piers.
  • Lowering of home onto new piers.

Council Approvals

  • Before a house can be removed from its original site it must be council approved.  This is called a “removal or demolishment” approval.  The original owners are responsible for this and it isn’t a cost that should be associated with you or your new home.
  • It may be necessary that your new house will need council approval at its new destination.  You will need to call your local council in the area and ask what information they require to submit a DA for the relocation of a new house to your block. This is known as your building approval.
  • All councils are different but following are a list of things that we would suggest to have ready for council upon you submission of your DA;
  • Colour photographs and plans of the house
  • Preliminary site plans indicating the position of the house on your block
  • A structural adequacy report
  • The filling out of an application form and payment of application fee

What our clients say about us

"Early this morning we witnessed the tow halves of the house being driven off our place for the very last time. It was sad to see the house go, and we wish it well for its future. My wife had tears as we watched the processions, as we had many good years in that house; and tha is all my daughter has ever known. It is truly amazing to see what your gusy do to get these things up and on the road, bypassing all the obstacles, that are in the way."

As a testimonial, I would like to say your organisation was most professional to deal with. McDonald Contracting know the business of house moving - very efficient and very hard working team! We like the "old fashioned" service they had to offer. The site was left clean as they did all the demo work too. We had a vacant block of land left and we were able to have our building come straight in to work. We would definately recommend them to anyone!"
